Becoming a VetCheck 24/7 Vet Nurse is very rewarding. You work for yourself, so you can work the hours that suit you. Maybe you are already working as a vet nurse and would like some additional income after hours or maybe you'd like the flexibility of working from home (or anywhere) for as many hours as suits you.
Your qualifications, experience and compassion as a vet nurse are essential in this role. You will be consulting directly with clients whose pets require immediate veterinary advice and sometimes emergency treatment. You will need to have the ability to triage the pets problem and recommend the best course of action. You will need to complete an online log of your call and outcome which will be referred back to the practice for ongoing care of the pet.
VetCheck 24/7 Vet Nurses are independent contractors and you must have an ABN (or equivalent outside of Australia). You must also have the relevant registrations and qualifications and at least 5 years practice experience is preferred.
Vetcheck 24/7 really helps us sleep better at night. We used to get a lot of calls to our emergency mobile at all hours of the night or weekend with people just wanting general advice about non urgent issues. Since taking on our after hours calls, Vetcheck 24/7 has filtered all of these things out by taking all the calls and providing that advice. The customers are happy because they get their answers and our vet can focus on the things she needs to. We now know if the emergency phone rings it is a genuine emergency.
